The Bauchi State Government has donated N250 million to support victims of recent flooding in Borno State, particularly in Maiduguri and Jere Local Government Areas.
This assistance was announced by Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed during a visit to Borno State, where he met with Governor Babagana Umara Zulum.
The donation aims to ease the suffering of communities affected by the disaster.
Governor Mohammed expressed sympathy for the victims and commended Zulum’s efforts in managing the crisis.
He revealed that the Bauchi State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) had been deployed to work with Borno’s Humanitarian Response Squad in providing necessary aid.
Mohammed acknowledged the unprecedented nature of the disaster, which has caused significant damage and hardship.
As part of their immediate support, Bauchi State has been providing cooked meals for 10,000 people twice daily.
Governor Zulum expressed gratitude for the timely donation, assuring that the funds would be used effectively to help those affected. He praised Bauchi State for standing in solidarity with Borno during this challenging time.
“We are deeply touched by your gesture, and I assure you that the N250 million donation will be judiciously utilised to alleviate our people’s suffering,” Zulum said.
“The support from your government is a testament to the bond between our states and commitment to humanity,” he added.
