The Bayelsa State Commissioner for Women’s Affairs, Elizabeth Bidei, has passed away.
The State’s Commissioner for Information, Ebiuwou Koku-Obiyai, announced Mrs Bidei’s death in a statement on Tuesday.
The statement did not disclose the cause of death or the date it occurred.
“Our thoughts are with the bereaved family, and our prayers remain with them during this profoundly difficult time of grief,” the statement read.
“Our deepest sympathies and prayers are with her loved ones. May they find solace in the knowledge that Mrs Bidei’s life and work had a significant impact on our state and its people.
“As we mourn Mrs Bidei, we will dearly miss her passion and commitment as a devoted public servant and a loyal party member who worked tirelessly to advance the welfare and empowerment of women in our state.
“As a member of the Executive Council, who played a vital role in shaping policies and programmes that benefited the people of Bayelsa State, her death has deprived our state of her invaluable contributions and created a void that will be difficult to fill.
“We shall remember her as a compassionate and kind-hearted individual who consistently prioritised the needs of others over her own.
“We firmly believe that her legacy will endure through the countless lives she impacted and the many initiatives she championed during her lifetime.
“The Governor and the entire government of Bayelsa State are deeply saddened by her loss and will miss her wise counsel and unwavering dedication to our shared efforts to build a brighter and more prosperous future for our state.
“We will always remember her as a true servant of the people and a steadfast advocate for women’s empowerment.
“May her soul find eternal rest in the bosom of our Lord.”
