The Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN) has announced that Benin City, Edo State, will serve as the venue for the first phase of the Ardova Handball Premier League in April 2024. Cosmos Chukwuemeka, Media Assistant of the HFN, confirmed this on Wednesday.
According to Chukwuemeka, the two-week event is scheduled to commence on April 28th and conclude on May 11th in Edo State. He emphasised that this tournament would mark the largest gathering of top-tier handball teams in Nigeria.
Almu Lambu, Secretary-General of the HFN, urged participating teams to ensure the timely completion of player registrations before the commencement of the league.
The Ardova Handball Premier League comprises 22 teams, consisting of 12 male and 10 female teams, and is conducted in two phases. Sponsored by Ardova PLC, this season marks the league’s seventh edition and its second year of partnership with the company.
The reigning champions of the Ardova Handball Premier League 2023 are Niger United and Safety Babes in the male and female categories, respectively.
