The Benue State Police Command has apprehended Dr. Ichor Tersagh, a lecturer at Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University of Agriculture, Makurdi (JOSTUM), for his alleged involvement in the abduction and robbery of Mrs. Susan Anyagh, wife of the university’s ASUU chairman, Paul Anyagh.
The incident occurred on Otukpo Road, Makurdi, last Saturday when Mrs. Anyagh was abducted, robbed of ₦1.35 million, and assaulted before being abandoned unconscious along a bush path. She was later rescued and treated at a healthcare clinic.
According to police reports, Mrs. Anyagh was flagged down by individuals posing as people in need. Upon stopping to assist, they entered her car and held her at gunpoint. Shockingly, she recognised Dr. Tersagh, her husband’s colleague, standing nearby during the abduction but claimed he turned his back on her plea for help.
Mrs. Anyagh also reported hearing a phone call between the kidnappers and Dr. Tersagh, during which he allegedly instructed them to kill her. The suspects later abandoned the car near a police checkpoint after robbing her and inflicting injuries.
Dr. Tersagh is currently in police custody, and investigations are ongoing.
