Benue Youths Protest High Tuition Fees and Employment Denials

Youths of Otukpo local government area in Benue state hit the streets on Monday morning to protest high tuition fees and perceived injustices in employment and student admissions by the Federal University of Health Sciences, Otukpo (FUHSO).

The protesters raised allegations against the university management, accusing them of discriminating against residents by withholding employment opportunities and rejecting admission for young individuals.

The locals voiced their discontent as they walked peacefully around the streets of Otukpo with placards. Some called for the sack of the institution’s vice Chancellor, Prof. Innocent Ujah.

Some of the placards read:

“FUHSO VC runs school as private entity.”

“No light at the teaching hospital.”

“Prof. Ujah must go.”

The protest comes amid several other protests in the country. Many Nigerian youths across the country are protesting against the rising cost of living that is making life difficult for the masses.
