Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter’s dance album Renaissance has twirled to the top of this year’s Grammy nominations list. She’s the leading contender at the 2023 Grammy Awards with nine nominations.
Renaissance is up for album of the year, while her No. 1 hit, “Break My Soul,” earned bids for Song of the year and Record of the year. She also earned three R&B nominations, one for her Oscar-nominated track “Be Alive” and two in the dance category, which is a first for the singer.
This sets a new record for the American singer as the most Grammy-nominated artist of all time with 88 nominations, tying with her husband Jay-Z. She is also set to make history when the Grammys air on Feb. 5, 2023— she’s won 28 awards and could surpass late conductor Georg Solti’s 31-win record.
Other artists with high numbers of nominations include – Kendrick Lamar with 8 nominations, Adele and Brandi Carlile with 7 nods, while Harry Styles, Mary J Blige, Future, DJ Khaled, The Dream and Randy Merrill (mastering engineer) have 6 each.
