President of the United States, Joe Biden will impose a new ban on non-American travellers in South Africa, in a bid to limit the spread of COVID-19.
The President will impose an entry ban on non-Americans in Brazil, the United Kingdom, Ireland, and at least 26 countries in Europe with open borders.
The move is in reaction to the growing infection rate and high transmission of a variant of COVID-19 discovered in South Africa.
Many countries of the world have imposed travel restrictions on South Africa as coronavirus keeps raging in the country.
New research has also said that the South African variant may not be neutralised by a vaccine as it has shown in some trials.
Pharmaceutical companies have been advised to develop new vaccines that will be viable enough to battle the fast-growing variant, which has now crossed to more than 20 countries of the world.
