The African Union (AU) and its Centre for Disease Control (CDC) and the African Union are working to ensure the continent has a high level of vaccine sufficiency.
This was disclosed by the Director General of the West African Institute of Public Health (WAIPH), Dr. Francis Ohanyido, on Tuesday following the inauguration of BioNTech’s first manufacturing plant in Rwanda.
The manufacturer of the mRNA COVID-19 vaccine, BioNTech Africa, officially opened its first factory site in the African country one year after laying its foundation.
The WAIPH DG made the statement during an interview on News Central TV’s programme One Slot on Tuesday, stating that the manufacturing facility will be monitored along with an accountability system that will be put in place.
