Ghanaian rapper and singer-songwriter Black Sherif, has hit a new milestone in his career. The 20-year-old music star has broken new records on streaming platform BOOMPLAY. Black Sherif joins the growing list of African stars who have joined the streaming platform’s Golden Club, amassing up to 200 million streams.
Public Relations Manager for Boomplay Ghana, Paul Azumah-Ayiteh, while presenting the plaque to the singer said “For a platform that first discovered Black Sherif as a potential rising star, Boomplay is proud to see his phenomenal growth in such a short time.”
His debut album, “The Villain I Never Was,” has received a total of 141.1 million plays and is currently at the top of Boomplay’s list of the most streamed African albums. Before its release, the music star recorded about a 100million streams, which has now doubled since.
Leading Ghana’s streaming numbers, he’s joined a hand full of other African stars like Naira Marley, Fireboy Dml, Tanzania’s Rayvanny, Wizkid, Davido and Burna Boy on Boomplay’s Golden club.
