Beloved animated series Bluey is making the leap to cinemas, with a feature-length film set for release in 2027, The Walt Disney Company announced on Tuesday.
The film will bring to life the heartfelt adventures of Bluey, Bingo, and their parents, Chilli and Bandit, who have captured the hearts of families worldwide.
“Bluey has become a global phenomenon, uniting families everywhere with its heartfelt stories of play, imagination and connection,” Disney Entertainment co-chairmen Alan Bergman and Dana Walden said in a statement. “We are so proud to… bring the magic of Bluey to the big screen — for real life!”
The Australian series, which first aired in 2018, revolves around a family of Blue Heelers, an Australian cattle dog breed, as they navigate the joys and challenges of childhood and parenting in suburban Queensland.
Known for its endearing life lessons and hilarious portrayal of everyday parenting moments, Bluey resonates with both kids and adults. Parents find the show’s witty dialogue and relatable scenarios—like managing tantrums or getting kids out the door—particularly charming.
In one memorable moment, Chilli, the ever-patient mother, laments, “The door. It is right here. All we need to do is walk out of it.”
The Emmy- and BAFTA-winning show has become a cultural phenomenon, available in more than 140 countries and ranking as the most-watched series globally on Disney+. It’s also the most-streamed show in the United States, Disney revealed.
