A rescue operation is ongoing after a boat carrying some electoral materials capsized on its way to the riverine Ilaje communities in Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State.

News Central learned that the boat also carried some ad-hoc personnel of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) with some election materials to the Igbokoda area of the local government.

But the source said there were no casualties in the incident as the men of the Nigeria Navy rescued all the victims and the election materials.

When contacted, Ondo state Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, Tee-Leo Ikoro, confirmed the incident, but called it “a minor accident.”

He said, “It happened but it was a minor mishap because there was no casualty, and nothing happened to the election materials, everything is intact.”
