Bobrisky: House of Reps Investigate Bribery Claims Against EFCC

The House of Representatives has directed its Committee on Anti-Corruption and Correctional Service to investigate allegations of bribery involving officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Nigerian Correctional Service.

This decision followed a motion raised by Representative Patrick Umoh on Thursday, calling for urgent action.

The allegations were made by Martins Vincent Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, a social media influencer.

Otse accused the EFCC of accepting a ₦15 million bribe to drop money laundering charges against cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, commonly known as Bobrisky.

Additionally, he claimed that Bobrisky, who had been convicted for abusing and defacing the Nigerian Naira, did not serve his sentence at the Nigerian Correctional Service but was instead kept in an apartment outside of official confinement.

Rep. Umoh expressed concerns that such allegations damage the credibility of Nigeria’s law enforcement agencies and reinforce perceptions of corruption in the country.

The motion was unanimously adopted by the House, which has tasked the relevant committees to investigate the matter thoroughly.

The committees are expected to report their findings within three weeks for further legislative action.

This inquiry aims to uphold accountability and transparency within Nigeria’s justice system.
