Police in Syria have discovered the body of a two-year-old girl who was brutally beaten to death by her aunt and her aunt’s husband in Eastern Ghouta, near Damascus. Local reports from Ninar FM revealed that the body of the young girl, identified as Marah A., was found buried in a cemetery in the village of Al-Buwaydah at a depth of just ten centimeters.

The Syrian Criminal Security Branch began investigating after receiving a tip about suspicious activity at the Sheikh Omar Cemetery. During the investigation, it was uncovered that Marah had been living with her aunt, Fatima T., following her father’s death.

Fatima and her husband, Mohammed A., confessed to repeatedly assaulting the child with a stick until she succumbed to her injuries. After her death, they hid her body in a refrigerator in their home for four days. The couple later enlisted the help of two accomplices to dispose of the body. These accomplices secretly transported the child’s remains to the cemetery and buried her.

Authorities in Syria have arrested one of the accomplices, while the other remains at large. The tragic incident has shocked the local community, raising concerns about child protection and the consequences of domestic violence.
