According to reports, 60 ISWAP (Islamic State in West Africa Province) terrorists, including three important commanders, have been taken prisoner by Boko Haram fighters.
The three leaders were named as Malam Idris, Abou Maimuna, and Abubakar Saddiq.
The ISWAP terrorists were apprehended on their approach to Damasak in Borno State, according to Zagazola Makama, a security analyst and counter-insurgency expert in Lake Chad.
He claimed that in the most recent turn of events, the Boko Haram Buduma sections that had the upper hand over ISWAP took the majority of their enclaves, compelling them to seek safety in more heavily defended hideouts along the Kukawa, Madayi, and Kwatan Mota axis.
“Their recent upper hand against the ISWAP was achieved due to the fact that some aggrieved ISWAP fighters had left the group to join forces with the Boko Haram Buduma Faction,” he said.
“These captives were later taken to an underground prison cell at KWATAN MOTA close to Dogon Chukwu where they were held as Prisoners of War.”
According to reports, the most recent conflict between the terrorists took place on Monday. 78 additional Boko Haram terrorists and members of their families are said to have turned themselves in to the soldiers of Sector 3 of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) Operation Hadin Kai in Borno’s Monguno Local Government Area.
They were reported to have given up because of the soldiers’ relentless assault on their hiding places and the fierce intra-ISWAP combat that resulted in the deaths of over 100 terrorists on both sides over the course of the previous seven days.
Meanwhile, in Nigeria’s Northwest, four armed bandits who disguised themselves in Hijab have abducted a businessman popularly known as Haji Isiya in Zamfara State.
It was gathered that the incident happened between 9:30 and 10pm, on Monday, at Hayi area of Maru Local Local Government.
A credible source who disclosed how the abduction of the Zamfara businessman happened, said that the terrorists stormed Maru area in a convoy of about three motorcycles.
