Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno State has received the Forbes Magazine Best of Africa Leadership Excellence Award for 2024. Forbes, a renowned global media firm, is recognised for its focus on business, technology, leadership, entrepreneurship, and lifestyle.
The prestigious “Best of Africa Leadership Excellence Award” by Forbes is granted to leaders who demonstrate integrity, innovation, and positive impact.
The award was presented by Mr Steve Forbes, chairman of Integrated Whale Media Investments, which owns Forbes Magazine, during a ceremony at Forbes House in New York, USA, on Friday.
Due to severe flooding in Maiduguri, Governor Zulum was unable to attend in person and was represented by Dr Mairo Mandara, his Chief Adviser and Coordinator for Sustainable Development and Humanitarian Response.
Expressing his appreciation, Zulum remarked, “I am truly honoured to receive this award. We take pride in our accomplishments and are confident that these successes will propel us to achieve even greater outcomes.”
Zulum, along with this accolade, was also awarded the national honour of Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON) by President Muhammadu Buhari in 2022.
Previously, in 2021, President Mohammed Bazoum of Niger conferred upon Zulum the Second-Order National Honour, “de Grand Officer Dans L’Ordre”, equivalent to Nigeria’s Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON).
