The Court of Appeal in Abuja has sacked Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State. Nigeria’s electoral body, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had announced Lawal, the flagbearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as winner of the March 18 gubernatorial poll.

However, the All Progressives Congress (APC) challenged the victory of Lawal. The tribunal upheld Lawal’s election, but the APC proceeded to the Appeal Court.
A three-member panel of justices on Thursday, annulled the victory of Lawal and ordered a rerun of the election in three local government areas.
The affected LGAs are Birnin Magaji, Bukuyun, and Maradun.
