The Federal High Court in Abuja has granted bail to a presidential aspirant and former governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha.
He was granted bail on Tuesday by Justice Inyang Ekwo in the sum of N500 million and a surety in like sum.
The order was issued by Justice Inyang Ekwo while ruling on Okorocha’s bail application. Okorocha currently represents Imo West senatorial district in the National Assembly.
He stipulated that the surety must be a responsible citizen with landed property worth the same amount as the bail granted to the presidential candidate.
The judge also ordered Okorocha to deposit his international passport with the court registry and not to leave the court’s jurisdiction without permission.
Similarly, he directed the court registry to notify the Nigeria Immigration Service that Okorocha’s international passport was in their possession.
However, Justice Ekwo ordered that the former governor be detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) until his bail conditions were met.
Okorocha’s counsel, Okey Amaechi, responded by informing the court that his client was ready to meet the bail conditions.
