BREAKING: Court Sacks Sanusi II as Emir of Kano

Sanusi Lamido (News Central TV )

A Federal High Court in Kano has nullified all actions the Kano state government took to repeal the Kano Emirates Council Law.

In his ruling on Thursday, Justice Abdullahi Muhammad Liman ordered all parties to “maintain status quo.”

This ruling implies that Bayero and the four other Emirs dethroned by the emirate law are reinstated to their thrones.

Recall that lawmakers in Kano repealed the law enthroning the 15th Emir and the establishment of additional four emirate councils –Karaye, Bichi, Gaya and Rano, by the immediate past governor of the state, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje.

However, Governor Yusuf had executed the law by dethroning Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero as Emir of Kano to reinstall the dethroned 14th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi.

A kingmaker in the former Kano emirate, Aminu Babba Danagundi, the Sarkin Dawaki Babba, had dragged the state government to challenge the propriety of the law and asked the court, through his counsel, Chikaosolu Ojukwu (SAN), to declare it null and void.
