Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has officially defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), marking a major political shift in the South-South region of Nigeria.
The announcement was made by the State Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Charles Aniagwu, who addressed journalists following a closed-door meeting held at the Government House in Asaba.
Aniagwu, accompanied by the state’s pioneer PDP chairman, James Manager, spoke with News Central’s Austin Azu about the development.

Also present at the high-level stakeholders’ meeting were former governor and 2023 PDP vice-presidential candidate Ifeanyi Okowa, members of the National and State Assemblies, as well as several commissioners.
The defection signals a significant turning point for Delta State, where the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has held power since 1999.
