News Central understands that operatives of the Department of the State Services have apprehended the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Joe Ajaero.
Ajaero was arrested on Monday morning at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on his way to the United Kingdom for an official assignment.
The NLC president was billed to attend the Trade Union Congress conference in London, which begins today.
On August 29, 2024, Ajaero, accompanied by Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Femi Falana, Marshal Abubakar, Deji Adeyanju and a coalition of lawyers, stormed police headquarters in Abuja after being summoned in connection with allegations of terrorism financing, cybercrime, subversion, criminal conspiracy, and treasonable felony’.
Details and reason for the arrest have, however, not been made public, sources however, said Ajaero was handed over to the National Intelligence Agency (NIA).
