Commercial activities came to a halt at the popular Wuse market in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) after a blaze of fire ripped through shops.
The fire outbreak resulted in pandemonium as many ran in different directions trying to put out the fire.
The confusion caused traffic gridlock on all the roads leading to the market.
However, firefighters and policemen arrived at the market, shooting sporadically and firing tear gas into the atmosphere.
Some cars were covered in smoke while some vehicles in the car park were completely burnt.
People inside the market forced their way out, using objects to help them jump the perimeter fence.
