BREAKING: Hoodlums Loot NEMA Warehouse in Abuja

Youths in their numbers stormed a government storage facility in Gwagwa, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Sunday and looted consumer goods and stored food staples.

The hoodlums ripped the warehouse around Tasha area of the community around 7 am, looting several bags of maize and grain.

The looting continued unhindered with some residents from neighbouring Karmo and Jiwa communities trooping towards the location with the intention of looting.

News Central correspondent reports that the situation caused a traffic logjam on Gwagwa-Karmo road leading to Dei-Dei and Jabi axis.

The looters pulled down the barricade at the site as they picked anything deemed useful from the warehouse.

During the Covid-19 lockdown, bags of grains as well as pumping machines meant for intervention were looted from the site.

After raiding the store, the rampaging youths headed towards Idu Industrial Estate, an area that hosts warehouses owned by individuals and also government.

There were no security operatives to stem the tides of attacks at the time of filing this report.

Around 10am, FCT police spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, said security operatives have been deployed to bring the situation under control.
