 BREAKING: Magnitude 4.4 Earthquake Strikes Southeast of Luxor, Egypt

An earthquake with a magnitude exceeding 4.4 on the Richter scale struck Southeast Luxor in Egypt on Tuesday, Egypt’s National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics (NRIAG) has reported.

According to a statement by NRIAG, the earthquake happened at 1:18pm Cairo Time (GMT +2) nearly 46 kilometers southeast of Luxor City.

The institute added that there were “No casualties or property losses,” it however stated that it received several reports from citizens who felt the earthquake.

The last major earthquake hit Egypt in 1992, measuring 5.8 in magnitude, killed 541 persons and left over 6,500 wounded in Greater Cairo.
