BREAKING: Nangolo Mbumba Sworn in as Namibia’s New President

Nangolo Mbumba has been sworn in as the new President of Namibia, following the death of former President Hage Geingob early Sunday.

Mbumba disclosed this shortly after he was sworn in as the country’s fourth president on Sunday afternoon.

The 82-year old has been Vice President since 2018.

Meanwhile, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, who has been Deputy Prime Minister since 2015, has been announced as the country’s new vice president.

Nandi-Ndaitwah, 71, makes history as Namibia’s first female Vice President.

Namibia was set to conduct its elections in November 2024, before the tragic passing of Geingob.

As stipulated by the Namibian constitution, President Mbumba will fill the remaining 10 months of Hage Geingob’s tenure.
