The case filed by the Action Alliance (AA) to challenge the election of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as president-elect has been dismissed by the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal in Abuja.
Justices Haruna Simon Tsammani presided over the five-person panel, which also included Stephen Adah, Bolaji Yusuf, Moses Ugo, and Abba Mohammed.
The dismissal, according to Justice Tsammani, who presided over the proceedings, was in accordance with the Electoral Act’s rules.
Oba Maduabuchi (SAN) and Malachy Nwaekpe Esq, two attorneys, had previously declared their attendance for the AA.
Both attorneys stated that they had received orders to drop the petition from various political party factions.
David Okonigbuan, the party’s presidential candidate, filed a petition against INEC, the APC, Bola Tinubu, and Hamza Al Mustapha to contest his disqualification from the election.
Al-Mustapha, a presidential candidate who was registered with INEC, was also fielded by the party. The petition’s withdrawal was not opposed by the case’s respondents. There are currently only four petitions left to be heard in the case.
