Breaking: PDP BoT Chair, Walid Jibrin Resigns

The chairman of the Board of Trustees of Nigeria’s main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party has resigned from his position.

Walid Jibrin disclosed this at the National Executive Council meeting currently going on in Abuja.

Presidential Candidate of the PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar

Jibrin said his decision to resign was premised on the need to mitigate the internal wranglings in the party and ensure that the presidential candidate of the party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar wins in 2023.

A chieftain of the PDP, Chief Raymond Dokpesi, had maintained that both the national chairman and Board of Trustees chairman of the party cannot step down to appease certain stakeholders of the party, as doing so will set the party in a constitutional quagmire.
