BREAKING: Plateau Police Teargas 16 Sacked PDP Lawmakers

Plateau House of Assembly Speaker(News Central TV)

Policemen from the Plateau State Command, on Tuesday, teargassed the 16 Peoples Democratic Party members of the Plateau State House of Assembly who were sacked by the Court of Appeal.

The incident happened when former representatives had landed at the Rayfield Old Government House in Jos alongside their supporters, ahead of plenary.

The policemen and other security operatives took over the premises of the Government House and barred the sacked lawmakers from entering the chambers of the House of Assembly. The sacked lawmakers vowed to not leave the premises.

The Speaker of the Plateau House of Assembly, Gabriel Dewan urged the people to maintain law and order while the courts determine the status of the sacked legislators.

Reacting to the development, the Plateau State Chapter of the APC said they have unearthed the “invidious and diabolical plan” of the sacked PDP members trying to start an insurrection and invite anarchy upon the state.

The spokesman of the aggrieved legislators, Maren Ishaku, the sacked member for Bokkos State Constituency was flanked by 15 other sacked members “advised the Governor not to interfere because they are going to resist all pressure”

APC State Publicity Secretary, Hon Sylvanus Namang added that:

“What began last week as a veiled threat by a former Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Hon Istifanus Caleb Mwansat during his infamous interview with AIT is fast becoming a reality.

The APC and all peace-loving citizens of Plateau State had expected that he ought not be walking the streets as a free citizen following his inflammatory outbursts.”

The Appeal Court judgment which sacked the 16 PDP State House of Assembly members and all its National Assembly members has a stamp of finality that cannot be upturned by any Court in the land in line with Section 246 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).
