Police Arrest Chinese Man Who Stabbed His Nigerian Lover to Death (News Central TV)

The divisional police station at Dorayi quarters in Kano State have arrested a Chinese man for the alleged murder of a lady known as Ummukulsum Sani Buhari.

The lady, a 23-year-old Ummukulsum was stabbed to death allegedly by a Chinese man said to be her lover at Janbulo quarters, Kumbotso local government area of Kano, North West Nigeria.

The incident happened on Friday night after the suspect came to visit the deceased, identified as Ummukulsum, at her parents’ residence. The building is adjacent National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA) office.

The police spokesman further stated that the mother of the deceased raised alarm during the act and the police was immediately alerted. The Commissioner of Police, Abubakar Lawan, directed the DPO, Dorayi Babba, to take charge of the situation.

The deceased, Ummukulsum popularly known as ‘Ummita’ was a student at Kano School of Nursing and Midwifery.

A neighbour to the deceased explained that she was recently divorced and the suspect, a 47 year old man known as Geng Quangrong was her boyfriend.

“The incident happen around 10:00pm last night. The murderer was her boyfriend since before she got married. Her husband divorced her and they went on with their friendship as boyfriend and girlfriend. He often went to her house. She was taken to UMC Zhair Hospital not more than a kilometre away from her house and she died.”

“Khaleed, her brother stopped the mob from attacking the murderer when he came back for his car when he entered the house because he (Khaleed) thought that will be lead to a different thing. The man was then caught and handed over to the police,” Abu Mustapha said.

The Police Public Relations Officer in Kano, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, confirmed the incident stating that the case is now at State headquarters in Bompai for further investigation and prosecution. Ummita has been buried according to Islamic rites.
