President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Salihu Abdulhamid Dembos as the Director-General/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Television Authority.
According to a statement by the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed in Abuja on Wednesday, the appointment is for a tenure of three years in the first instance.
Born on August 27, 1960, Dembos hails from Yola South Local Government Area in Adamawa. Until his appointment, Dembos was the Executive Director, Marketing, of the NTA.
Dembos was actively involved in the Staff Union, Radio Television, Theatre and Arts Workers Union (RATTAWU) where he rose to become the National President from 1998-2007.
With over 20 years as a media practitioner, Dembos was General Manager of two NTA Stations, in Lokoja and Kano; and as Zonal Director, NTA, Kaduna, among other appointments.
