BREAKING: President Buhari Meets APC Governors in Abuja (News Central TV)

Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF), Governor Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State has led other members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) under the aegis of the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF) for a meeting at the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

They’re meeting President Muhammmadu Buhari in a closed-door meeting with Governors of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) under the aegis of the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF).

The APC Governors made a passionate appeal to President Buhari, requesting that the old and new naira notes be allowed to co-exist. Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna, who was joined by his Kano counterpart, Abdullahi Ganduje, said that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) had mopped up over N2 trillion of the old notes, but had only printed N300 billion in new notes, which he said is not enough.

El-Rufai suggested that even if the CBN had wanted to implement the cashless policy, it should have printed half of what it mopped up, for a start, which ought to be N1 trillion.

He urged the President to take into consideration the suffering of the masses and the traders, citing an example of tomato sellers who travelled to Lagos with their goods but got nothing because people had no money to buy.

Other Governors in attendance are: Dapo Abiodun (Ogun); Dave Umahi (Ebonyi); Abdul Rahman Abdulrazak (Kwara); Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos);  Hope Uzodimma (Imo); Bello Matawale (Zamfara);  Mai Bala-Buni (Yobe); and Sani Bello (Niger) and among others.
