Four victims of the March 28 Kaduna-bound train attack have regained their freedom. The released passengers, a female and two males were freed 24 hours after terrorists released a disturbing video where the victims were being whipped.

Although it is not clear if any ransom was paid before their release, the abducted persons have reunited with their family members.

Confirming their release, Kaduna-based Publisher, Tukur Mamu, said, “Three victims have been released, a female and two male. But remember I’m not part of the negotiation that led to their freedom.”

Mamu had announced withdrawal from the negotiation, citing threat to his life. Earlier today, families of the victims staged a protest at the headquarters of the Ministry of Transportation in Kaduna.

The names of the four captives freed are: Gladys Brumen, Oluwatoyin Ojo, Hassan Lawal and Pastor Ayodeji Oyewumi.

It was gathered that the victims were dropped by the terrorists at a location inside the forest along the Kaduna–Abuja highway where their relatives picked them up.

In the viral video yesterday, one of the terrorists threatened that unless the government comply with their demands, they would turn the area into an abattoir. Some passengers were released after reportedly paying N100 million each.
