Brentford will be without their DR Congo forward, Yoane Wissa, for a couple of months after he sustained an ankle injury, according to the club’s manager, Thomas Frank.
The 28-year-old forward netted an early goal just 30 seconds into Saturday’s match against reigning champions Manchester City. However, Wissa was forced off just before the break following a collision with Mateo Kovacic, in a game that saw Brentford lose 2-1.
Speaking ahead of the League Cup clash with Leyton Orient, Frank confirmed the severity of the injury. “Wissa is not good news,” he said. “It looks like an injury that will be a couple of months. It is very frustrating. It will leave a hole, but I will find a solution and other players will step up.”
The Bees are already missing summer signing Igor Thiago, who is out with a knee injury, while their star forward Ivan Toney recently departed for Saudi Arabia’s Al-Ahli.
