The British Council in Nigeria has announced a hike in fees for the academic International English Language Testing System (IELTS) examinations. This marks the second fee increase by the council within the year.

Previously, the price surged by 29 percent from the N107,500 rate.

The updated fees for various modules are as follows: IELTS on computer academic and general training modules: N266,000; the test on paper academic and general training modules: N256,500; UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI): N285,500; Life Skills: N249,000 and; One Skill Retake (O.S.R): N87,570.

In a recent website update on Thursday, the council stated it had reassessed the fees. The council attributed the fee adjustment to evolving market dynamics and increased delivery costs of exams.

The revised prices for the range of tests will take effect from March 1, as stated by the council.

Recall that in September 2023, the British Council had raised the IELTS cost from about N90,000 to N107,500, citing the need to maintain high-quality testing standards.
