A 25 years old Kenyan man has been clobbered to death by his brothers during a dispute over the sale of their family land in Kanyamwa East, Ndhiwa sub-county.
The deceased, Fredrick Ouma, was reportedly beaten to death on Thursday after he confronted his brothers for selling their family land without informing him.
During the confrontation, a struggle ensued and Ouma was hit with a blunt object by one of his siblings.
He died on the spot.
According to Area Assistant Chief Benard Oduogi, Ouma who lived in Sindo, Suba South accused them of secretly selling their father’s land without telling him or sharing with him the money made from it.
Things turned for worse when the deceased ordered the buyer occupying the land to leave.
“Villagers intervened but it was too late. We suspect he died after being hit with a blunt object on the head,” said Oduogi a witness and resident.
Area Chief Grace Oyuga said the suspects hired a vehicle and transported their brother’s body to Manyatta mortuary at Kobodo trading centre. They allegedly lied to the mortuary attendants about the cause of death. They attributed his death to suicide.
“They claimed the young man committed suicide by hitting himself with blunt objects, and that is not possible,” Oyuga said.
The administrator said she has notified the police to take up the matter for further investigations and legal action.
