The President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari and the first lady, Aisha Buhari, today, celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary.
Buhari who could not hide his joy announced this via his official Twitter handle. He also posted a throwback photo of himself and the first lady.
General Buhari (as he then was) and young Aisha got married on 02 December 1989.
Before his marriage to Aisha, Buhari had married former Miss Safinatu Yusuf, with whom he had 5 children – 4 girls and 1 boy. She died in 2006.
Safinatu Buhari was the first lady of Nigeria from 1983 till 1985, when Gen. Buhari’s government was overthrown. They got a divorce in 1988.
Coincidentally, President Muhammadu and Aisha Buhari’s marriage is also blessed with 5 children; 4 girls and a boy.
Following the announcement, Nigerians have come out to felicitate with the first family of the country.
