Bola Tinubu, the successor to outgoing President Muhammadu Buhari, has been awarded the national honour of Grand Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (GCFR).

During the current investiture ceremony in Abuja on Thursday, Buhari presented Tinubu with the honour.

As part of the investiture ceremony for the President-Elect and his Vice, Kashim Shettima, they will receive the GCFR honour.

At the conclusion of the Regimental Dinner hosted in honour of the President by the Armed Forces on Tuesday at the newly commissioned Nigerian Armed Forces Officers’ Mess, Asokoro, Abuja, the President was joined by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, the Minister of Defence, Major General Salihi Magashi, the Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor, and the Service Chiefs.

Buhari was under a lot of pressure to complete his official office obligations as well as the variety of events planned for the inauguration.

Prior to essentially inaugurating six other projects, the President officially opened the new Nigerian Customs Service headquarters buildings in the Maitama Area of the FCT.
