Buhari In Ghana for Extraordinary ECOWAS Summit

Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari will depart Abuja, the Nigerian capital for Ghana on Saturday ahead of the extraordinary summit of the West African regional bloc.

Buhari had returned to Nigeria on Friday after his travel to Spain for a two-day visit where he met with the President of the European country. This was after he met with governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The Economic Community of West African States summit is expected to have all the leaders of the bloc’s member-nations in attendance. It will be held at the Presidential Palace in Accra, the Ghanaian capital.

The Presidents will discuss about Mali and its current political situation as it concerns the military junta and the nation’s return to democracy.

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, National Security Adviser, Babagana Monguno and the Director General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ahmed Rufai Abubakar will accompany the President to Ghana.

He’s billed to return to Abuja on the same day. Local reports have said the President will meet with Presidential aspirants of the All Progressives Congress when he returns and is expected to name his successor in the meeting.
