Buhari to Address UN General Assembly

Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari is scheduled to speak at the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly, slated to be held in New York, United States of America on the 24th of September. 

Buhari has been listed to be the second speaker on the fourth day of the high-level debate at the UNGA. 

His address is expected to come up at 9 a.m (2p.m WAT), to a spectator comprising other world leaders, according to Nigeria’s news agency. 

Jair Bolsonaro of Brazil is scheduled to be the first leader to present his address at the event, and he will be followed by President of the United States, Joe Biden. 

Leaders from 80 countries of the world would speak at the event in person while other leaders would deliver their address via pre-recorded messages. 

Spokesperson of the United Nations Secretary General, Antonio Gutteres, Stephane Dujarric said in a Press Briefing that that strict pandemic rules will be enforced at the event. 

Every participant at the UNGA is expected to use masks and staff at the headquarters are expected to have been vaccinated before the event. 

The 2020 UNGA was held virtually, in what was the first of its kind in the history of the United Nations.
