A new drive to recruit another 5,000 soldiers to help in the fight against insurgents is underway in Burkina Faso, the military government has announced.
Burkina Faso’s Defence Minister Colonel Kassoum Coulibaly said the recruits that will be admitted must be between 20 and 35 years old and be ready to serve in the military for at least five years.
A week ago, more than 50 soldiers were killed by terrorists in the country’s Northern flank.
At least 15 others were reported to have died on Monday in an ambush by militants affiliated with al-Qaeda terror group.
Over two million people have been displaced since 2015 when the insurgency commenced.
