Rights organisations in Burkina Faso claim that the troops killed around 40 civilians in the region’s north. According to the Collective Against Immunity and Stigmatisation of Communities, there have been numerous instances of kidnapping that were followed by executions by hanging.

According to the report, the victims’ remains, which were bound and blindfolded, were discovered on the road between Taffogo and Bouroum.

The majority of the victims, according to the Observatory of Human Dignity, a different rights organisation, were Fulani, a predominantly Muslim ethnic group of semi-nomadic herders.

The Burkina Faso troops has consistently refuted allegations of rights violations.

According to reports, the incident happened at the beginning of this month in the Tougouri village of Taffogo.

More than 2,000 people have lost their lives and another 1.9 million have been forced to flee their homes as a result of the insurgency being fought by groups believed to have ties to al-Qaeda or the Islamic State group in Burkina Faso.
