While it’s big news that Nigerian superstar musician Burna boy and late Afrobeats pioneer Fela Kuti made Rolling stone’s Greatest Singers of all times list at number 197 and 188 , it’s Celine Dion’s exclusion from that compilation that has sparked outrage.

The 55-year-old American magazine excluded Canadian singer Celine Dion from its list of the 200 greatest singers of all time. Ranging from Aretha Franklin to Beyoncé, Adele to Rosalía and other artists known for standout singing, the list didn’t include the ‘My Heart Will Go On’ singer.

Producer, promoter and recording artist Jamie Lambert tweeted “Respectfully, not including Celine Dion, arguably the best vocal technician of all time, in this list is borderline treasonous,”

The publication appeared to anticipate the criticism, its introduction note included “Before you start scrolling (and commenting), keep in mind that this is the Greatest Singers list, not the Greatest Voices List”

Regarded as one of pop music’s most influential vocalists, Dion is the best-selling Canadian recording artist, and the best-selling French-language artist of all time, haven sang in English, French, Spanish, Italian, German, Latin, Japanese, and Chinese.
