Bus-Truck Crash In Southern Egypt, 20 Killed

Not less than 20 people have been reportedly killed and three others injured in a road accident in southern Egypt on Tuesday

The ministry of health said in a statement that 36 ambulances were dispatched to the accident scene, which took place as a bus and a truck collided on the eastern desert road in Assiut province.

The accident resulted in the death of 20 people and three others injured, The survivors were taken to nearby hospitals

Investigating into the increase rate of accidents in the country,officials of Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics,discovered that Egypt has a poor transportation safety record.

Traffic accidents kill thousands every year in Egypt, Most of these Crashes are caused by overspeeding, bad roads, or poor enforcement of traffic laws.

According to the country’s official statistics agency, about 10,000 road accidents took place in 2019,killing more than 3,480 people. In 2018, there were 8,480 car accidents, causing 3,080 deaths.

In providing a lasting solution to this,Government plan to open new roads and expand highways to help reduce accidents.
