Business Tycoon Henry Akinduro Sues EFCC for Declaring Him Wanted

Bolaji Henry Akinduro, the CEO of Global Signature Hotel and Total Grace Group, is suing the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for allegedly violating his rights by declaring him wanted without following proper procedures.

Akinduro claims that the EFCC’s decision to label him as wanted over a supposed fraud is both unfair and illegal.

The Commission announced on social media that it was looking for Akinduro due to a complaint from Mr Femi Olushakin.

In response, Akinduro filed a N5 billion lawsuit in the Federal High Court in Lagos, arguing that the EFCC acted without judicial approval and ignored constitutional protections.

His lawyer, Olakekan Ojo (SAN), stated that the allegations were baseless and stemmed from a business disagreement rather than any criminal activity.

The issue began from an investment deal between Akinduro and Olushakin, which is already being addressed in a civil lawsuit.

Akinduro’s legal team condemned the EFCC’s announcement, saying it harmed his reputation and was part of a plan to criminalise a civil issue. They stressed that Akinduro had answered all inquiries through the correct legal processes and aimed to resolve the business dispute appropriately.

They accused Olushakin of using state power to intimidate Akinduro and asked the court to see the matter as purely civil.

Additionally, Olushakin is seeking compensation for alleged unpaid investment returns, complicating the legal situation between them.

Akinduro maintains his innocence, insisting he should be presumed innocent until proven guilty. His legal team believes the courts will reveal the allegations as malicious and unfounded.

They urged the public to wait for the court’s decision before forming opinions, reaffirming Akinduro’s trust in the justice system to deliver a fair outcome.
