CAF Fines Aubameyang $10,000 For “Degrading & Offensive” Tweet

Africa’s football governing body, CAF has slammed a $10,000 fine on Arsenal and Gabon captain, Pierre Emerick Aubameyang for his tweet before a qualification game.

Aubameyang had taken to the social media to express his dissatisfaction with the running of football in Africa after players of the Gabonese national team were forced to sleep at the Banjul Airport despite presenting results of coronavirus tests.

The Arsenal skipper didn’t hide his feelings with their situation and asked CAF to do better in a tweet that quickly gained international attention.

CAF in its reaction on Tuesday said Aubameyang’s tweet undermined the honour of the organisation.
