The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has expressed deep concern over the treatment of the Nigerian National Football Team, the Super Eagles, at a Libyan airport.
A statement released by the body stated that it has been in communication with both Libyan and Nigerian authorities after reports emerged that the team, along with their technical staff, was stranded for several hours under distressing conditions at an airport where they were allegedly directed to land by Libyan officials.
CAF has referred the incident to its Disciplinary Board, which will conduct a thorough investigation. The organisation has assured that appropriate action will be taken against any individuals or entities found to have violated CAF’s Statutes and Regulations.
