Calls for the release of Leah Sharibu have intensified as she marks seven years in Boko Haram captivity.
The Gideon and Funmi Para-Mallam Peace Foundation urged the international community to increase diplomatic efforts to secure her freedom.
Leah was among the 110 schoolgirls abducted from Dapchi, Yobe State, by Boko Haram on February 19, 2018. While the others were eventually released, she remained in captivity after 2,557 days.

Speaking in Jalingo, Taraba State, during the anniversary of her abduction, the foundation’s Executive Director, Gideon Para-Mallam, expressed frustration over what he described as the government’s silence on Leah’s situation.
He called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration to build on previous efforts to bring her home and urged First Lady Oluremi Tinubu to intervene.
“As a mother, she should use every legitimate means to bring Leah home to her parents,” he said.
Para-Mallam also appealed to her captors, asking them to show mercy and release her. He expressed his sorrow that she had been held for so long while the other girls were freed.
The foundation reiterated its commitment to securing Leah’s release and commended those working to support the effort.
