Multiple Canadian provinces, including Ontario and Quebec, have enacted bans on the sale of US alcohol in response to import tariffs imposed by US President Donald Trump.
Ontario Premier Doug Ford called the move a significant blow to American producers, highlighting that Ontario’s Liquor Control Board (LCBO) sells nearly 1 billion Canadian dollars ($688 million) worth of US alcohol each year.
The LCBO’s website was temporarily down on Tuesday, with a notice explaining that US products were being removed in retaliation to US tariffs on Canadian goods.

Quebec’s government instructed its provincial alcohol distributor to stop supplying American alcoholic beverages to stores, bars, and restaurants.
In Manitoba, Premier Wab Kinew announced that US alcohol would be removed from shelves, while British Columbia’s provincial government revealed it would stop purchasing liquor from “red states,” referring to those that voted for Trump’s Republican Party.
