At least four people have been killed in a car bomb targeting workers of a Turkish company in Somalia.
Terrorist group, Al Shabaab has since claimed responsibility for the attack.
Turkey’s foreign ministry revealed the unfortunate incident on Saturday, as one of its nationals was left dead in the attack.
The staff of the Turkish company were working on a road construction site, linking capital city Mogadishu to Afgoye. The latter has seen car bomb attacks in the past.
Abdiasis Abu Musab, the Military Operation spokesperson for the Al Shabaab, confirmed that the group orchestrated the attack.
Somalia has been in the middle of crisis between nations in the Arabian Gulf, mainly the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia on one side and Qatar and Turkey on the other side.
Since 2011, Turkey has shown to take up the responsibility of building Somalia in a bid to hold some forte in the Horn of Africa.
Turkish President, Recep Tayip Erdogan has previously sanctioned the building of schools in Mogadishu while Turkish schools are also accepting students from Somalia as part of human capital development.
Al Shabaab currently terrorises Eastern Africa with Somalia and Kenya, some of its victims. It has left the country in a bad state as United Nations and African Union troops engage in peacekeeping missions in the country.
Somalia has seen multiple attacks in the past and is one of Africa’s most terrorised nations. The government of the country is yet to react to the latest incident.
