Real Madrid announced on Friday that Carlo Ancelotti has extended his contract as the coach of the La Liga club until 2026.
Ancelotti returned to Real Madrid in 2021, previously managing the club from 2013 to 2015. The Italian strategist has an impressive track record with the Madrid club, securing one La Liga title, two Champions League trophies, and two Club World Cups during his tenure.
In an official statement, Real Madrid CF stated, “Real Madrid CF and Carlo Ancelotti have agreed to extend our coach’s contract until 30 June 2026.”
The extension puts an end to speculation surrounding his potentially taking on the role of Brazil’s national team manager. Earlier this year, there were reports that he was a top target for the position, but his commitment to Real Madrid dispels those rumours.
Carlo Ancelotti boasts the record for the most Champions League titles won as a coach, having claimed the prestigious trophy twice with AC Milan in 2003 and 2007. Additionally, he made history by becoming the first manager to secure the league title in all of Europe’s ‘Big Five’ competitions when Real Madrid clinched La Liga in 2022.
As of now, Ancelotti’s Real Madrid leads La Liga after 18 games and has advanced to the last 16 of this season’s Champions League.
