CHAN: DR Congo Defeat Republic of Congo In Derby

A Chico Usindi second-half goal was all Democratic Republic of Congo needed to defeat neighbours, Republic of Congo in their group B fixture at the African Nations Championship.

The match, which was highly anticipated lived up to the billing as it had great football moments on display.

The Congolese entertained fans with their usual dance style and proved their mettle once again as one of Africa’s best teams.

The first half of the encounter ended with both teams failing to break the deadlock, despite DR Congo proving to be the more likely side to get a win.

The Leopards held on to the lead and restored their bragging rights over brother-nation, Congo-Brazzaville, with Henock Baka getting the Man-of-the-match award.

In the other group fixture, Niger Republic and Libya produced a goalless stalemate.

In the first four games of CHAN so far, just three goals have been scored with three 1-0 scoreline and goalless draw.

The African Nations Championship is a competition for players based in Africa only and is considered one of the biggest competitions on CAF’s calendar.
